Why do we do this?

Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Lithuania is implementing the project “Building up Modern and Open Prosecution Service in the Republic of Lithuania” funded by the European Economic Area.

  • Objective of the Project is to create an open and modern Prosecution Service and to further strengthen the effectiveness of criminal prosecution.
  • Duration of the Project is 4 years (June 2020 – 30 April 2024)
  • The budget is Eur 2 213 661.00.

The Project is implemented by the Prosecution Service and the Norwegian partner Norwegian National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (ØKOKRIM).

The Project aims at:

  • To increase the efficiency of criminal prosecution by improving the procedures of the Prosecution Service and strengthening the capacities of the Prosecution Service in the field of criminal prosecution.
  • To strengthen the administrative capacities of the Prosecution Service and improve the working environment.
  • To make the Prosecution Service open to the public and the media.
